Orlík

The Orlík castle was founded in the 13th century by the Přemysls Dynasty.

It is situated on the hill above Vltava River. Due to its location, it was an important place for supporting royal power in the region and also strategic for the near ford security. In the 16th century Orlík got the Renaissance chateau appearance and 2 centuries later, reconstruction in the Romantic Gothicism style took place. The chateau has four wings which close the courtyard and it is surrounded by an extensive English park. The interiors are an excellent example of the noble life-style in the 19th century. There is also a collection of guns with more than 300 items. The library offers more than 18 000 books. Close to the chateau is the Pseudo-Gothic tomb of the Schwarzenberg Family. Orlík is one of the most popular chateaus in the Czech republic, due to its combination with the dam, offering many possibilities for your free time.
